Outdoor LED Display · B2B Budget Guide · 2026

How Much Does an Outdoor LED Screen Cost per m² in 2026?

Short answer: there is no reliable single market price per square metre for an outdoor LED screen in 2026. A usable B2B budget starts with the specification: pixel pitch, brightness, ingress protection, cabinet construction, service access, control system, structure, power distribution, logistics, installation and warranty scope. Uniview LED does not publish a universal list price per m² because outdoor LED projects are quoted against the actual project configuration.

The most accurate way to compare suppliers is to normalize every quote to the same active display area, the same technical specification and the same bill of materials. This guide shows how to do that using published Uniview LED outdoor platform data and clearly labelled engineering calculations.

Main cost lever Pixel pitch and pixel density
Outdoor range in this guide 3.906–10 mm
Brightness examples 3,200–10,000 nits
Budget basis Active display area, not structural footprint

Why outdoor LED screen cost per m² is a derived number

An outdoor LED display is a system rather than a single commodity product. Only part of the project scales directly with display area. The rest scales with the project, the site and the service contract.

Display layer

LED modules, LED packages, driver ICs, receiving cards, power supplies, cabinets, internal cabling, gaskets and sealing.

System layer

Video processor, sending card, media player or CMS, optical fibre or Cat cabling, network and signal distribution.

Site layer

Steel structure, foundations, access walkway, lightning protection, grounding, crane and rigging requirements.

Service layer

Installation, calibration, commissioning, training, warranty terms, spare modules, spare PSUs and response commitments.

Procurement rule: two suppliers can quote the same apparent “USD per m²” while including very different scopes. Compare on active display area and normalize every included and excluded line item before evaluating the total.

Specification → budget

Seven specification choices that change outdoor LED cost per m²

Cost driver Buyer decision Why it changes cost Published Uniview LED reference
Pixel pitch 3.9 mm vs 6.67 mm vs 8–10 mm Smaller pitch increases LED density, driver IC count and receiving-card requirements per m². FlexR-UO3.9: 65,536 dots/m²; RK 6.67: 22,500 dots/m²; RK 10.0: 10,000 dots/m²
Brightness 3,200–10,000 nits Higher brightness requires a different LED/drive configuration and increases maximum power demand. FlexR-UO3.9: 3,200 / 4,500 / 5,500 nits; RK / RK Pro: 7,000 nits; RK HB: 10,000 nits
Ingress protection IP65/IP54 vs IP67/IP65 Higher protection changes sealing, enclosure and environmental protection requirements. RK and FlexR-UO3.9: IP65 front / IP54 rear; RK Pro: IP67 front / IP65 rear
Cabinet construction Cabinet size, material and weight Cabinet weight affects both hardware and the support structure engineered for the project. RK: ~29.8 kg/m²; RK Pro: ~29.3 kg/m²; FlexR-UO3.9: ~31.6 kg/m²
Maintenance access Front service vs rear service Service strategy affects cabinet design, rear clearance, steelwork and long-term labor access. RK / RK Pro: front and rear module and PSU maintenance; FlexR-UO3.9: rear maintenance
Control & processing Processor, receiving cards, fibre, CMS These are often separated from the display hardware, so quote scope changes apparent per-m² pricing. RK, RK Pro and FlexR-UO3.9: cable under 100 m; optical fibre at 100 m or more
Structure & logistics What is included in the project scope Steel, foundations, freight, duties, installation and commissioning can create major quote variance. Project-specific; normalize separately from display hardware
Source note: this guide does not publish a Uniview LED price per m². Engineering values are based on published Uniview LED configuration data or transparent calculations from those values. Always request the latest dated datasheet and project quotation before purchasing.
Pixel pitch & viewing distance

Match pixel pitch to the real viewing distance before pricing the project

Pixel pitch determines both pixel density and the resolution available for a given physical size. Specifying a finer pitch than the viewing distance requires can increase hardware cost without improving what the audience can actually perceive.

Do not mix measurement bases. “No calibration” and “after calibration” brightness figures are not directly comparable. Ask every supplier to state whether brightness is measured before or after calibration, and compare like with like.
Worked example

What a 50 m² outdoor LED project looks like before pricing

Engineering basis: RK 6.67

Start from whole cabinets, not from an abstract area target. The example below resolves a nominal 50 m² requirement into a buildable cabinet grid, physical dimensions, native resolution, dead load and connected power.

50 m² target
Cabinet count 55 cabinets
50.69 m² active area
Practical array 11 × 5 cabinets
10.56 m × 4.80 m
Native resolution 1,584 × 720 px
Display dead load 1,512.5 kg
≈29.8 kg/m²
Maximum power 34.65 kW
≈683.6 W/m²
Average power 12.65 kW
≈249.6 W/m²
Resolution check: 1,584 × 720 px is not a native 16:9 or 1080p canvas. With a 144 × 144 px cabinet resolution, a 1,920 × 1,080 target does not divide into whole cabinets. Resolve cabinet grid, pitch and source-content format before the quotation is finalized.

A practical formula for outdoor LED screen cost per m²

Quoted price per m² =
(Display hardware + Control & processing + Structure & civil works + Power distribution & cabling + Packaging / freight / insurance / duties + Installation / calibration / commissioning + Spares / warranty + Commercial margin) ÷ Active display area (m²)
Active display area
The illuminated LED surface only. In the 50 m² example above: 50.69 m²
Structural / billed footprint
Can include framing, service space or non-display structure. Do not use it as the denominator when comparing display cost per m².

If your project is not yet fully specified, use What Information Is Needed for an LED Display Quotation? before requesting prices. A complete input brief reduces the risk of comparing non-equivalent quotations.

Bill-of-materials checklist — separate these lines before accepting a bundled total:

  • Spare modules, receiving cards and PSUs
  • Sealing, gaskets and corrosion protection
  • Video processor, sending card, media player or CMS
  • Signal cabling, optical fibre and network hardware
  • Steel structure, brackets and foundation interface
  • AC power distribution, protection devices and main disconnect
  • Packaging, freight, insurance and duties
  • Installation labor, crane / rigging, calibration and commissioning
  • Training, warranty scope and service-response commitment
Operating cost

Model annual electricity cost separately from purchase price

Example annual energy ≈73,900 kWh/year

RK 6.67 example · 50.69 m² · 249.6 W/m² average · 16 h/day

Annual energy (kWh) = average power per m² × active area × daily operating hours × 365 ÷ 1,000

249.6 W/m² × 50.69 m² × 16 h × 365 ÷ 1,000 ≈ 73,900 kWh/year .

At an illustrative electricity tariff of USD 0.15/kWh, the annual energy cost would be roughly USD 11,100. Replace this tariff with your local commercial electricity rate.

For a deeper engineering calculation, see How Much Power Does a 50 m² or 100 m² LED Wall Consume?

!
Electrical design uses maximum load. Average power is useful for operating-cost estimates, but breakers, feeder cables and generators must be sized from the project’s maximum connected load and applicable electrical code.
Site engineering

Structure, installation and maintenance can cost more than the screen specification suggests

1
Dead load
Referenced outdoor cabinets are approximately 29.3–31.6 kg/m² before support steel, access platforms or other structural components are added.
2
Wind and seismic engineering
A universal wind-load rating should not be assumed. Wind and seismic design are site-specific structural engineering tasks for the exact location, height and mounting method.
3
Maintenance access
Front-and-rear service platforms can reduce rear-access requirements; rear-service products require maintained working space behind the display.
4
Rigging limits
Where hanging installation is used, follow the documented hardware and maximum rigging-height limits for the specific product configuration.
5
Ingress protection
Choose IP protection from the real exposure conditions. See IP65 vs IP66: Which Rating Does an Outdoor LED Display Actually Need?

Before you request pricing

Three questions every B2B buyer should answer first

What is the exact active display area in whole cabinets?
Make sure every supplier divides its price by the same active LED area, not by the larger structural footprint.
Which items are included in the per-m² figure?
Confirm control system, steel, power distribution, freight, duties, installation, calibration and spares separately.
Does the specification match the real site?
Check pixel pitch, viewing distance, brightness, IP rating, maintenance access, operating environment and electrical capacity before comparing prices.
