Allianz Stadion Vienna: 218.88 m² POS 10 Stadium Perimeter LED Display

At Allianz Stadion in Vienna, Austria, Uniview LED supplied a 218.88 m² POS 10 stadium perimeter LED display for professional football use.

Completed in 2017, the pitch-side installation combines a 10 mm pixel pitch with high outdoor brightness, high refresh performance and modular perimeter cabinet architecture for sponsor media and match-day communication.

QUICK ANSWER / 01

What Does a Stadium Perimeter LED Display Need to Do?

A professional football perimeter LED display has to serve several groups at the same time: sponsors, broadcast cameras, spectators, players and venue operations.

That means brightness and refresh rate are only part of the design. Cabinet alignment, player-side protection, emergency access, electrical segmentation, service access and camera commissioning also affect match-day performance.

At Allianz Stadion, the POS 10 installation created a continuous advertising line around the pitch while remaining part of the stadium's operational environment.

TOUCHLINE MAP / 02

One LED Ribbon, Four Match-Day Responsibilities

01 Sponsor Media

Continuous perimeter graphics create a long horizontal advertising surface visible to spectators and broadcast cameras.

02 Broadcast Cameras

Refresh rate, scan mode, shutter settings, processor output, grayscale and calibration need to work together for camera capture.

03 Player Side

The perimeter structure must consider impact zones, exposed hardware and player-side protection as part of the venue safety design.

04 Venue Operations

Match-day access, emergency openings, signal routes, power distribution and service procedures must remain practical.

PROJECT BRIEF / 03

A Pitch-Side Display Is Not Just an Outdoor Billboard

Stadium perimeter systems operate much closer to players, cameras and field-level infrastructure than conventional outdoor advertising displays.

The installation therefore has to combine strong daylight visibility with low-angle viewing, camera performance, repeated match-day operation and safe interaction with the playing environment.

MATCH-DAY FLOW / 04

From Stadium Setup to Live Broadcast

A perimeter system should be commissioned as part of the complete venue workflow, not only tested as a standalone screen.

01
Align the Ribbon

Level the cabinet line, verify module continuity and confirm sponsor-content segmentation around the field.

02
Verify Signal

Check receiving-card topology, signal routing, processor output and recovery procedures.

03
Tune Brightness

Set operating luminance for the actual field orientation, ambient light and camera exposure rather than simply running at maximum output.

04
Test Cameras

Verify refresh, scan behavior, shutter workflow, frame rate and calibration under the broadcast setup.

05
Release Match Day

Freeze sponsor content, safety access, operating responsibility, power status and service readiness before the match begins.

POS 10 Historical Project Specifications

The following values come from the original Rapid Stadium project record. They describe the historical POS 10 installation and should not automatically be treated as the specification of today's GM10 product.

Parameter Rapid Stadium POS 10 Project
Pixel Pitch 10 mm
Brightness Project record: ≥7,000 nit
Refresh Rate Project record: ≥7,680 Hz
Cabinet Size 1600 × 900 × 80.5 mm
Cabinet Weight 47.87 kg
Power Consumption 1000 / 330 W/m² max / average
Total LED Area 218.88 m²
Installation Year 2017

Important: use the current product datasheet when quoting a new stadium project. Historical project values are useful as a case reference, not as a substitute for the current GM Series specification.

CURRENT PRODUCT FAMILY

GM Series Stadium Perimeter

New stadium enquiries should reference the current GM Series , which includes GM6.67 and GM10.

ONE RIBBON / THREE USERS

Sponsor, Camera and Venue Requirements Must Coexist

01 / SPONSOR

Readable Media

Brand graphics need enough luminance, contrast and physical size to remain readable from spectator and camera positions.

02 / CAMERA

Stable Capture

High refresh provides headroom, but scan mode, shutter speed, frame rate, grayscale, processor settings and calibration complete the camera workflow.

03 / VENUE

Safe Operation

Emergency routes, cabinet access, player protection, power distribution and service procedures remain part of stadium operations.

Four Records to Freeze Before Match Day

A stadium perimeter project should leave engineering with more than a cabinet quantity. Venue, broadcast, operations and safety teams need one coordinated release package.

Ribbon Map

Active length, display height, cabinet segmentation, sponsor zones and emergency openings.

Camera Record

Camera positions, operating brightness, shutter workflow, processor settings and calibration state.

Safety + Access

Player protection, emergency routes, opening responsibility and match-day operating procedure.

Power + Service

Maximum load, circuit segmentation, signal route, spare parts and maintenance access.
